Governance & Oversight

Duty-bound. Legally grounded. Built to endure.

The Global Health Access Trust operates under the legal and ethical framework required of charitable trusts in England and Wales. Its Trustees are charged with fiduciary responsibility, institutional integrity, and public duty.

Legal Structure

The Trust is constituted as a charitable trust under deed, in accordance with the Charities Act 2011.
Charity Commission registration is formally in progress and expected in 2025.

All activity is conducted for exclusively charitable purposes and in the public interest.

Trustees

Trustees are legally appointed stewards of the Trust. Their obligations include:

- Upholding the Trust’s constitutional objects

- Ensuring compliance with UK charity law and regulatory standards

- Approving all material disbursements and partnerships

- Managing conflicts of interest, impartiality, and institutional neutrality

- Safeguarding the reputation and long-term independence of the Trust

A full list of current Trustees is available upon formal request or within our annual governance statement.

Financial Oversight

The Trust maintains strict accounting practices in line with Charity Commission expectations. All funds are:

- Held in designated charitable accounts

- Audited annually by a qualified independent examiner or auditor

- Disbursed only upon formal resolution and justification

- Tracked and reported in accordance with SORP (Statement of Recommended Practice)

No private benefit is permitted except where legally incidental and explicitly authorised.

Due Diligence

Before approving any grant or programme, the Trustees undertake a structured due diligence process, including:

- Verification of legal status and regulatory compliance

- Anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorism screening

- Risk assessment for misuse, diversion, or reputational harm

- Vetting for political neutrality, human rights integrity, and governance strength

Ethical Governance

The Trust operates with the guiding principles of:

- Impartiality – We are apolitical, non-commercial, and non-sectarian

- Discretion – We do not seek publicity; we seek public impact

- Integrity – Every action taken is measured, documented, and mission-aligned

- Legacy – Our work is guided by the enduring interests of civil society, not short-term outcomes

Annual Reporting

An annual report will be published each calendar year, including:

- Financial statements and key disbursements

- Institutional partnerships

- Trustee declarations and compliance notes

- Programme outcomes and charitable progress

- Reports are made available to regulators, donors, and the public upon request.
